SOCIA project will develop and test the Social Innovation Academy concept (to go live in 2019). The Academy will be the first European, fully online management training programme focusing exclusively on social innovation. And we are happy to report the so quickly growing interest in the project! It’s clear that we have touched on a topic close to many hearts!
A round of applause for our newly launched Global Advisory Board and Friends community!
Over the last several months, we have received many applications from social innovation experts from academia and practice to join our international Social Innovation Academy Advisory Board and Friends community. We are so honoured that so many of you had got in touch with us. We are happy to announce that the first 5 members of the Board have been accepted and you can read about these great new Advisors here. The role of the Advisors will be to serve us with their expertise for the development of the methodology of the curriculum as well as related publications. Make sure to connect with these exceptional individuals!
Also, we are thrilled to welcome the first organisational and individual Friends on board (more are being added every day). The role of the Friends is to provide us with invaluable feedback throughout the process. Friends will be the first to test the beta version of the Academy. In the meantime we are doing our best to promote their own great work on our social media. It’s all about supporting each other! If you are our Friend already and want us to help you spread the word about your social innovation initiatives, do not hesitate to let us know and we will help!
Join us if you haven’t yet!
Both the Advisory Board and the Friends community will stay open throughout the project. If you believe you should be our next Advisor or Friend, please contact us! We are co-creating something exceptional.
Our team met in Athens two weeks ago. Conclusion: we are on (the right!) track!
After the kick-off in Luxembourg at Limitless, the project coordinator, this time, the host was Found.ation, a privately funded and operated technology hub. It was great to meet each other in person again and to have some famous Greek salad too! See the video from the event and read about the project progress here.
Why Social Innovation Academy?
Social Innovation has been increasingly perceived as the answer to the rising number of European societal challenges. While the European authorities, leading academics, policy experts, business people and activists agree that social innovation is the key to better future for Europe and the world, it is extremely difficult for professionals to obtain high quality training on what social innovation actually offers and, more importantly, how it can be done in practice.
We aim to change this situation in Europe and beyond.
The Social Innovation Academy will target the managers of companies, NGOs/civil society organisations and intermediaries (hubs, incubators, labs etc.) as well as (aspiring) social entrepreneurs willing to learn how to set up and run social innovation initiatives to solve the most pressing societal challenges of our times.
The project is led by Limitless (Luxembourg), with Eolas (Spain), Found.ation (Greece), ICAN Research / Harvard Business Review Polska (Poland), and We4You (Slovenia) as partners.
