Women Entrepreneurship and Education in the spotlight at TIF 2021

U.S. Mission to Greece, in partnership with Found.ation and Socialinnov are organizing the TechCamp Thessaloniki: Empowering Women Entrepreneurs and the Education Revolution Conference, at the 85th Thessaloniki International Fair, under the auspices of the Ministry of Digital Governance.

With a goal to support female-led tech ventures and to create equal opportunities for women in the entrepreneurial environment, the TechCamp Thessaloniki: Empowering Women Entrepreneurs program is held again in the context of the 85th Thessaloniki International Fair, as a follow up to the successful similar events of the previous years. The TechCamp will take place from September 12-14, and this year will be followed by the Education Revolution Conference, which aims to motivate more kids – especially girls – follow a science, technology, engineering or math (STEAM) career. Both activations are organized by the U.S. Mission to Greece, in partnership with Found.ation and Socialinnov under the auspices of the Ministry of Digital Governance.

TechCamp Thessaloniki is a hands-on, participant driven workshop, providing tailored training to 40 women entrepreneurs from Greece and other Balkan countries. Through this 3-day lab, the participants will learn how to set up their own sustainable business, taking advantage of new innovative digital tools and strategies, thus contributing themselves to the financial growth and economic stability of the communities they belong to.

During the 3-day program, women entrepreneurs will be supported by mentors and instructors who will help them follow a structured acceleration process including brainstorming sessions, small group discussions and training workshops that provide innovative solutions to real challenges identified by the participants.

Within the context of the TechCamp, a series of speeches and discussion panels has been arranged. Keynote speakers will talk about the latest technology, education, entrepreneurship and public administration developments. Discussions and speeches will take place in the Digital Greece pavilion and will be livestreamed on Found.ation’s YouTube channel (1st Panel and 2nd Panel). US Ambassador in Greece, Geoffrey Pyatt and the Minister of Digital Governance in Greece, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, will introduce the event. Find details regarding the schedule of the welcome remarks and discussion panels of the TechCamp Thessaloniki at the bottom of the story.

The Education Revolution Conference will take place on September 15 and will also be hosted in the Digital Greece pavilion. The program includes a series of workshops, speeches and discussion panels revolving around the future of education. Technology is gaining ground fast in schools too and the goal of this conference is to inform (mostly) teachers and students about technological innovation and the digital transformation of education and also highlight the STEAM career prospects. The conference will also be livestreamed on Socialinnov’s YouTube channel.

The TechCamp Thessaloniki and the Education Revolution Conference will take place from September 11-15, 2021 at the Thessaloniki International Fair, in accordance with all Greek Government health and safety measures to ensure the safety of participants, instructors, and contributors.

Both programs are being conducted as a successful follow-up to the long term collaboration of the U.S. Mission in Greece and the Found.ation and Socialinnov, which started in 2018 when The USA was the honored country of the Thessaloniki International Affair.
